چکیده
The Sn-modified TiO2 photocatalysts are prepared by low-temperature sol-gel processing based on organic titanium and tin precursors with varied Sn concentrations (from 0.1–20 mol .%). role of dopant as the promotor formation rutile crystalline phase is explained optimal concentration for preparation efficient titania photocatalyst determined. Up to 40 % increase in photocatalytic activity achieved thin films dried at 150 °C low range from 0.1 1 .%. At ratio between anatase (nano)crystals obtained, which facilitates charge separation photocatalyst’s surface. When increases above 5 mol.% or when calcined 500 °C, relative amount inferior activity, nanocrystals grow, leading fewer active sites per unit mass reduction comparison unmodified TiO2.

Understanding the effect of surface/bulk defects on the photocatalytic activity of TiO2: anatase versus rutile.
The sole effect of surface/bulk defects of TiO2 samples on their photocatalytic activity was investigated. Nano-sized anatase and rutile TiO2 were prepared by hydrothermal method and their surface/bulk defects were adjusted simply by calcination at different temperatures, i.e. 400-700 °C. High temperature calcinations induced the growth of crystalline sizes and a decrease in the surface areas, ...
متن کاملNew understanding of the difference of photocatalytic activity among anatase, rutile and brookite TiO2.
In general, anatase TiO2 exhibits higher photocatalytic activities than rutile TiO2. However, the reasons for the differences in photocatalytic activity between anatase and rutile are still being debated. In this work, the band structure, density of states, and effective mass of photogenerated charge carriers for anatase, rutile and brookite TiO2 are investigated by the first-principle density ...
متن کاملLow-Temperature Synthesis of Anatase TiO2 Nanoparticles with Tunable Surface Charges for Enhancing Photocatalytic Activity
In this work, the positively or negatively charged anatase TiO2 nanoparticles were synthesized via a low temperature precipitation-peptization process (LTPPP) in the presence of poly(ethyleneimine) (PEI) and poly(sodium4- styrenesulfonate) (PSS). X-ray diffraction (XRD) pattern and high-resolution transmission electron microscope (HRTEM) confirmed the anatase crystalline phase. The charges of t...
متن کاملCharacterization and photocatalytic activity of SiO2-TiO2 mixed oxide nanoparticles prepared by sol-gel method
SiO2-TiO2 mixed oxides have been prepared by sol-gel technique from titanium tetraisopropoxide and tetraethylorthosilicate. The prepared materials were characterized by X-ray diffraction, FT-IR spectroscopy, scanning electron microscopy, nitrogen physisorption and UV-vis diffuse reflectance spectroscopy. The results indicate that compared to pure TiO2, the SiO2-TiO2 mixed oxides show higher the...
متن کاملBand alignment of rutile and anatase TiO2
The most widely used oxide for photocatalytic applications owing to its low cost and high activity is TiO2. The discovery of the photolysis of water on the surface of TiO2 in 19721 launched four decades of intensive research into the underlying chemical and physical processes involved2–5. Despite much collected evidence, a thoroughly convincing explanation of why mixed-phase samples of anatase ...
